What is UTM coordinate system?
UTM (Universal Transverse Mercator) is a global coordinate system that divides the Earth into 60 zones, each 6 degrees wide. It uses meters as units and provides accurate positioning for surveying, mapping, and navigation applications.
How do I determine the correct UTM zone?
UTM zones are numbered 1-60 from west to east. You can determine your zone by longitude: divide longitude by 6, add 31, and round down. Our tool also provides zone detection when you input latitude/longitude coordinates.
How accurate are the coordinate conversions?
Our converter uses standard geodetic algorithms with centimeter-level precision. Accuracy depends on input data quality and is suitable for professional surveying, GIS applications, and precision agriculture.
What datum does the converter use?
The converter uses WGS84 datum by default, which is the standard for GPS systems and most modern mapping applications. This ensures compatibility with GPS devices and GIS software.
